A revision to the original Trail Blazing piece. My agent suggested that the piece may be more successful with a less monochromatic background, and allowing the dinosaur to be a bit less hidden. So I scanned the previous version hi-res, and then added some tints to the trees, and more contrast and spots to the dinosaur. Not sure which version I prefer. On one hand, I like my original concept, but on the other hand, I think the added colors round out the piece a bit. What do you think?
Watercolor and some colored pencil on cold press. 10" x 10"
I like it this way, (but I also kind of like the fact that the dinosaur was more hidden the first time.) But it does look a bit more "finished" in this version.
I think I like this one better...it seems to add a bit more "dimension" to the whole picture, in terms of the stuff going on (without it being "too much"). I didn't appreciate the background as much as I do now
