This is gorgeous work on an equally awesome theme. Lovely design on the engineer-princess, and I love how her beautifully designed outfit contrasts with those big thick magnifying glasses so that she can get the precision work done. (Let's just hope her lace gloves don't get frayed by those stray bits of wire and metal.) Better yet is how happy she looks while building her creation. It's also neat to see the metal work for the table itself, and that finely-adjustable lamp seems pretty sweet too; the other finer work like the frog, her tiara, the trim on her neckline, etc. are great too. The spotlight and depth-of-field effects for the bookcase give it a quiet and cozy feeling too.
I've enjoyed your work for several years now, but truly fell in love with your watercolor illustrations. I think this piece nods towards them...perhaps it is the contrast or subject matter, or maybe all the details...whatever the case it just FEELS more like your older work (in a positive way!)
